Can I use what3words to get help if my vehicle breaks down? (UK only)

Yes, you can! Many breakdown providers accept what3words addresses, so you can simply give them the 3 words for your current location and they’ll know precisely where to find you.

To find your current what3words address, follow these steps:

Open the what3words app and wait for the blue dot to stabilise. This will ensure you have the most accurate what3words address.*
Tap the arrow icon towards the bottom right (above the satellite mode button).
The what3words address will then display at the top of your screen.

*The location accuracy is dependent on your device’s GPS signal. It will be more accurate when you are outside with a clear view of the sky.

What if I don’t have signal or data?

You can find your current location on the what3words app – it doesn’t matter if you don’t have phone signal or a data connection because your current location is found via GPS signal. Bear in mind that without data, the map won’t load, but your location will still update when you tap the ‘locate me’ arrow icon.
