To change the default map view to satellite mode, follow the steps below. Please note that the map options differ depending on whether you’re using the app or the online map.
Using the what3words app
To change your default map view in the what3words app:
Tap the menu icon in the top left corner.
Then tap Settings followed by Map settings.
Select Satellite.
To change it back to map view, repeat the above, but select Map.
Using the online map
On the online map, it’s currently not possible to change your default map view to satellite.
Tip: A URL parameter can be added to a what3words address link to make it open in Satellite view. Add the parameter ?satellite=true to the end of a what3words address link to do so. For https://what3words.com/filled.count.soap?satellite=true.
