The in-app photo feature makes it easy to take a photo and immediately add a what3words address sticker, or to add a sticker to a photo you’ve taken previously. It means you can share that photo with anyone, and they’ll know exactly where it was taken.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Tap Photo in the action panel at the bottom of the screen – you may need to swipe to see it – then use the round button in the centre to take a photo.
  2. Your current what3words address will appear on the photo. If you need to select a different location, tap the pin icon on the side and select the correct square to update the location.
  3. Get creative with your sticker! Use the icons on the side to change the colour and style. Drag the sticker with your finger to move it, and use a pinching motion to resize it.
  4. Once you’re happy, tap the download icon to save the photo to your phone, or tap the share icon to select which app you’d like to share with.

Note: If you choose the ‘pointer’ style sticker with a line coming down to the ground, you can drag the rectangle shape to reposition it, and then drag the end of the line to wherever you’d like it to point to.

Add a what3words address to an existing photo

After tapping Photo, select the picture icon on the left to import a photo you’ve taken previously. The app will use the photo’s geolocation information to display the what3words address for the spot it was taken at, as long as you had location enabled on your device at the time.
